Genealogy Resources

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible for membership.

Researching your lineage from an American Revolution patriot can be a daunting task, but the Towamencin Chapter members are here to help. Complete a Pedigree Chart (PDF) to bring it with you when you meet with the chapter representative.

There are a variety of resources available to you for lineage research. As with all research, keeping an accurate account or journal of your journey will assist you in preventing duplication. Here are several places to start your research.

  • Local libraries
  • Genealogy books (purchased or borrowed by mail)
  • Genealogical and lineage societies (National Genealogical Society, DAR, or SAR)
  • Computer bulletin boards (GenForum or ancestry.com message boards)
  • Genealogy web sites (ancestry.com, Cyndi's list, or rootsweb)
  • Membership in the DAR
